Downtown Squamish is nestled between the mountains on the east and Howe Sound in the south. Mount Garibaldi dominates the view to the northeast of the town. The estuary here is a wonderful spot to go for short walks and do some bird watching.
Otherwise Squamish is a very practical town. It has all the shops anyone could need and the town itself is a great place to visit for anyone who likes the outdoors. The list of things to do here is endless from active pursuits such as hiking, biking, rock climbing, kite-surfing and swimming to cultural activities such as visiting the Loggers' Festival, held in July/August every year or the West Coast Railway Heritage Park.
Getting here: Cleveland Avenue is the main access road to downtown Squamish; turn left at the Esso gas station off Hwy 99 (for northbound travellers, otherwise turn right).
